Opened in 1969, the Music Center has become the epicenter of Los Angeles’ thriving cultural world. Originally the
performing arts complex was comprised of three major venues. But that is soon to be expanded with the addition
of the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the new home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic now under construction.
The largest of the existing three theaters is the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, a 3250-seat auditorium. Currently home
to the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Los Angeles Opera, it was also known worldwide as the site for the Academy
Awards ceremonies for years. The center structure is the Mark Taper Forum, a theater in the round that often hosts
experimental productions. Top-notch drama and musical productions are performed in the 2000 seat Ahmanson
Theater on the north end of the complex.
Location: On Hope St. between Temple and 1st
Hours: 24/7, according to performance schedules
